Semester 1 Incomplete Days – January 29, 30 and 31

The last day of Semester 1 classes is Friday, January 26, 2024.

NWSS is excited to enhance our upcoming Semester 1 Incomplete Days format.

Our Incomplete Days will take place on January 29, 30 and 31.

We shared this information to our wonderful NWSS PAC on Thursday, November 30th.  We hope you will join us on this excitement as we embark on this new and improved format.  What has not changed from our prior practice is that the objective is to provide ALL STUDENTS an opportunity to improve their achievement and submit work that is missing.  Teachers may request students to report to class to complete their missing work and assignments.
Furthermore, we are offering student workshops as an extension of learning.  This will provide students with an opportunity to enrich their educational lives where they will be inspired with greater knowledge and fun hands-on experiences.  These OPTIONAL workshops and presentations will be held on Monday, January 29th.  It is a first come first serve registration.  More information on how to register will be shared when we return from the Winter Break.  Space is limited so we encourage all families to pay attention to this information in the New Year.
Examples of these OPTIONAL workshops and presentations include:
  • BCFED Health and Safety Centre: “Alive After 5″.  This will be an Occupational Health and Safety (OH & S) presentation to teach our students about hazard recognition, who WorkSafe BC is, their four basic OH&S rights and injury reporting.  Open to all Grade 9 – 12 students.
  • ICBC Presentation on graduated licensing and road safety.  Open to Gr 9 & 10 students.  Grade 11 and 12 students are welcome to participate.
  • ICBC Presentation on speed, impaired driving, distracted driving, dangerous driving and alternatives to get home.  Open to Gr 11 & 12 students only.
  • BC Lions – Team up to end racism.  This presentation will promote inclusiveness, understanding, and creating more respectful, peaceful schools and communities.  Open to all Grade 9 – 12 students.
  • NWSS Dance Club.  Come on out to learn some basic dance moves and enjoy dance presentations.  Open to all Grade 9 – 12 students.
  • NWSS Science Ninja Club.  Come on out to immerse in some fun science demonstrations with Mr. Ng and club members.  Open to all Grade 9 – 12 students.
  • Yoga and Meditation.  Come on out to learn the benefits of yoga’s physical exercises with positive energy of meditation practice.
  • MOSAIC and Community Connection with Newcomer students
  • NWSS Engineering Club.  Come on out to immerse in some fun architectural themed engineering demonstrations with Mr. Pontier and club members.  Open to all Grade 9 – 12 students.
On Tuesday, January 30th and Wednesday, January 31st, The NWSS Administrative Team and our Counselling Department will be holding Grade assemblies and 2024 – 2025 Course Planning Presentations.  These are MANDATORY sessions that all students must attend.  Our NWSS educators will be flexible and work around the schedule of these mandatory sessions to ensure they do not request students to report to class to complete their missing work and assignments.
