Fraser Health Measles Immunization Catch-Up Program April to June 2019

The BC Government has announced an immunization initiative for all school-aged children in grades K through 12 regarding the measles vaccines. This is an opportunity for UNimmunized and UNDER-immunized children to catch-up on their vaccinations. Public health nurses visited NWSS on Thursday, April 25th to assist with this process for our grade 9 students. Term 3 Report Cards available online April 18th – important information

As of Thursday, April 18th at 3:00 p.m., the MyEducation BC Family Portal will be open for parents and guardians for our Term 3 reporting period. NWSS is moving towards being paperless in our communication with parents/guardians. This initiative will enable you to access your child's progress in an easier, more efficient way. Please see the attached letter for log-in instructions in order to create your parent portal account. All students can access the student portal and are able to print their report card. Announcing the BETWEEN THE LINES LITERARY FESTIVAL April 15th-18th

Our Outside the Lines event on Monday April 15th (for C and D block classes) will feature novelist Danny Ramadan and journalist Tessa Vikander. After school that Monday, we will also host Drag Queen Storytime where queens, Dust and Mx Bukuru, will read to students from their favorite SOGI inspired storybooks. more

On Monday, April 8th, schools across Canada will be participating in Green Shirt Day. Last April, the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash impacted the entire country. One of the players, Logan Boulet, was able to save six people through organ donation. His gift showed there is always hope, even in times of great tragedy. Students can participate on April 8th by wearing a green shirt or a jersey to show their support. more

Youth Work in Trades Award & Info Night

All NWSS Students and their families come to: Youth Work in Trades $1000 Award Info Night Tuesday, May 14 at 6 pm (ending roughly at 7:30 pm) NWSS library This event is for Grade 9, 10, 11 and Graduating students and parents/guardians:  who are curious about the apprenticeship option  who will be enrolling in any of our apprenticeship programs (Examples: Carpentry, Chef, Plumbing) or our Skills Exploration 10 – 12 program  who are currently working in a trade-related job (Examples: construction, restaurant food prep) WHAT WOULD YOU LEARN: How students can earn course credits for their paid apprenticeship jobs and a $1000 award; how you can support your student to do this and how a student can get started on an apprenticeship track. 2019 Graduates are eligible for NWSS Apprenticeship Programs more
