Departments & Programs - International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is a program of international education designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.

This programme prepares highly motivated students for the rigours of post-secondary education. It encourages students to ask questions and to interact with the world around them in a meaningful way. The IB Diploma not only provides an enhanced curriculum, it teaches students how to navigate through the information overload of the modern world.

IB is a challenging two-year curriculum in Grades 11 and 12.  It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities, the IB Diploma.

The NWSS Pre-IB programme is offered for Grade 9 and 10 students who are preparing for the IB Programme.

NWSS Pre-IB courses include:

  • Science
  • English
  • Social Studies
  • French
  • Mathematics
  • Research In Motion
  • An elective (eg. Band, Business, etc…)

The fundamental courses count as Honours courses.

An IB information session for parents and students entering Grade 9 in September 2019 will take place on Monday, January 14, 2019, 6:30 p.m., in the NWSS Library.  New Grade 10 and 11 students (and parents) are welcome to attend.
