Applicants to Grade 9 NWSS Pre-IB Programme
Pre-IB Grade 9 Application Package
- Student Application Forms: Application packages will be available at the Parent Information Session on Monday, January 14, 2019, in the NWSS Library at 6:30 pm, or from NWSS or your counsellor at New Westminster middle schools on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Applications and supporting documents are due at NWSS on Monday, January 28, 2019 by 2 pm.
- New Westminster middle school students should indicate interest in the NWSS Pre-IB 9 programme to their school counsellor by Friday, January 18, 2018.
- Confidential Teacher Referral Form: Applicants must provide two references. One should come from a Humanities (Socials, English, or French) teacher and one from a Science or Math teacher. Teachers should have these as soon as you decide to apply. Teachers are asked to return the completed forms to Mrs. Chris Walton at NWSS by Monday, January 28, 2019 by 2 pm.
- Entrance Testing: Saturday, February 2, 2019, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, in the Pearson Cafeteria at NWSS.
- Letters advising students whether they have been accepted into the programme or not (or wait-listed) will be mailed in early March.
Applicants to Grade 10 NWSS Pre-IB Programme
Pre-IB Grade 10 Application Package
- Student Application Forms: Application packages will be available at NWSS on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Applications and supporting documents are due at NWSS on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
- Confidential Teacher Referral Forms: Applicants must provide two references. One should come from a Humanities (Social, English, or French) teacher and one from a Science or Math teacher. Teachers should have these as soon as you decide to apply. Teachers are asked to return the completed forms to Mrs. Chris Walton at NWSS by Thursday, April 18, 2019.
- Entrance Testing: Wednesday, May 15, 2019, noon – 3:15 pm, in the Massey Small Gym.
- Letters advising students whether they have been accepted into the programme or not (or wait-listed) will be mailed in early June.
- Successful applicants must complete a package of summer work in English, and show proof of completion of Pre-Calculus & Foundations of Math 10, prior to September 2019.
Applicants to the IB 11 Programme at NWSS
IB Grade 11 Application Package
- Student Application Forms: Application packages will be available at NWSS on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Applications and supporting documents are due at NWSS on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
- Confidential Teacher Referral Forms: Applicants must provide two references. One should come from a Humanities (Social, English, or French) teacher and one from a Science or Math teacher. Teachers should have these as soon as you decide to apply. Teachers are asked to return the completed forms to Mrs. Chris Walton at NWSS by Thursday, April 18, 2019.
- Entrance Testing: Wednesday, May 15, 2019, noon – 3:15 pm, in the Massey Small Gym.

- Successful applicants must also complete a package of summer work in English and show proof of completion of Pre-Calculus 11 and/or Social Studies 11 (if not planning to take IB History 11) and/or Physics 11 (if planning to take IB Physics 11) prior to September 2019.

Please note: New applicants to NWSS Pre-IB 10 and IB 11 are accepted when spaces are available.
- An IB information session for parents and students entering Grade 9 in September 2019 will take place on Monday, January 14, 2019, 6:30 p.m., in the NWSS Library. New Grade 10 and 11 students (and parents) are welcome to attend.
