International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme at NWSS
New Westminster Schools offers the New Westminster Secondary School (NWSS) Pre-International Baccalaureate (IB) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) – a challenging four-year curriculum that starts in Grade 9 and 10 with the NWSS Pre-IB program and continues with the IB DP in Grades 11 and 12.
The DP leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities. Many universities provide specific scholarships for DP students and most grant course credit of up to one year. The program prepares highly-motivated students for the rigours of post-secondary education. It encourages students to be active learners, to ask questions and to interact with the world around them in a meaningful way. IB encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
An IB information session for parents and students entering Grade 9 in September 2019 will take place on Monday, January 14, 2019, 6:30 p.m., in the NWSS Library. New Grade 10 and 11 students (and parents) are welcome to attend.
