NWSS Farewell Video

A new New Westminster Secondary School (NWSS), adjacent to the old school, opened to students in January 2021 on the traditional and unceded territory of the Qayqayt First Nations People. The old school, formerly known as Vincent Massey Junior and Lester Pearson High School, is no more. While new beginnings and fresh starts mean progress and change and moving forward, saying good-bye and having closure was also needed. So, to honour our old friend and historic community building that faithfully served all the high school students in New Westminster for more than 70 years, we wanted to say a proper good-bye.

A volunteer group of passionate Hyacks and affiliates worked with several partners including NewWest.TV, current and former students, teachers and staff to create a farewell tribute video to honour the site’s past & present and provide an opportunity for all to say “farewell” to an important chapter in New Westminster history.
