NWSS is home to approximately 2,000 students in grades 9 through 12. We are proud of our diversity and that is reflected in an array of educational programs and services as we strive to meet the needs of all learners and backgrounds. Our learners achieve success along with a greater understanding and grasp of the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing globalized world.

NWSS Replacement Project

The New Westminster Secondary School Replacement Project will see a $106.5 million new home in 2020 for one of British Columbia’s largest high schools! Semester Transition: Innovative Learning and Enhancement

Last year NWSS developed “Open Learning Days” partly in response to the evolution of our Provincial Examination requirements announced in June of 2016. As we continue to develop different and innovative ways to offer engaging learning opportunities for our students these days have now become Innovation, Enhancement and Incomplete days. During this time, teachers offer a variety of activities that are open to students on a drop-in basis. Students can participate in activities that may not fit into a current curriculum, they may be extension activities of existing courses or they may be activities that are student driven.
